Family and early career

Gautam Hari Singhania was born into the Singhania industrial family, the son of Vijaypat Singhania. He joined the family's JK Group in 1986 and later moved to Raymond, where he became a director in 1990, Managing Director in 1999 and Chairman in 2000.

Reshaping Raymond

He restructured the group and sold businesses outside its main line, including synthetics, steel and cement, so that Raymond could concentrate on fabrics and clothing. Under him Raymond built up its apparel brands and retail stores, and formed international partnerships in denim and shirting.

In recent years the group has been reorganised again. The consumer products business, which included Park Avenue and KamaSutra, was sold in 2023. The clothing business was then separated as Raymond Lifestyle, and the property business as Raymond Realty.

Interests

Gautam Singhania is well known for his love of fast cars and motorsport. He has taken part in car rallies in Europe and started one of the first super car clubs in India.
